These are the people currenly in my town. I will freely admit that I am guilty of judging by cuteness. Take Kiki and Chevre, for example. They literally have identical personalities, since there are only so many basic personality types in the game, and the individual villagers are mostly just an appearance matched to one of the preset personalities. However, Chevre is firly on my favorite villagers list, and I will absolutely never ever ever let her leave, ever, while Kiki I am much less impressed with. (She doesn't offend me or anything, but she's just sort of bland. I don't mind her in my village while she's here, but next time she tries to move out, I'm probably not going to try to stop her.) Why the difference? Because Chevre is adorable, I mean, look at her. Same story with Alfonso and Dizzy--identical personalities, but Alfonso is on permanent retention and Dizzy will more than likely be out as soon as I can get him to give me his picture.
Villager-by-villager breakdown, if anyone was curious:
Alfonso: Keep
Apollo: He has been around forever. He is the oldest villager still here. He is awesome, was easily my favorite villager until Chevre came along (and probably still is even after, but now it's a lot closer,) and is absolutely never allowed to leave.
Buck: The new kid, I just got him yesterday. Still undecided.
Chevre: ♥
Dizzy: Meh
Kiki: Meh
Mallary: Second-oldest original villager still here today--only Apollo was here before her. As far as that villagers with her particular personality type, there are two other ones I've seen elsewhere (Amelia and Whitney) who I really want to get at some point and would probaly like better, but Mallary has really grown on me (especially since she and Apollo are the only ones left from the really old days) and I really don't want to give her up, even in exchange. A dilemma. I'm probably going to keep her, if only because I can't really change my mind after she leaves, if she ever does.
Pango: An extreme newcomer (Buck is the only one more recently added than her) but I like her already. I think I'm going to keep her.
