I have always been of the opinion that games should be fun for everyone. And while I do agree that game developers did intend for a game to be played a certain way, a lot of older games were not designed to be accessible to all players to play them in the way they were intended, whether it be because of motor control issues that prevent a player from timing certain actions correctly to just not really being good enough to beat certain objectives. The original Super Mario Bros 2 was a good example of this. We got the reskinned Doki Doki Panic version of that game over here because the game was just brutally hard (among other reasons) whereas Super Mario Odyssey has an optional assist mode to help beginners enjoy the storyline without the frustration of constantly dying while also allowing seasoned pros to enjoy the game with the risks that come with a standard platformer. Some people just don't have the skills necessary to play the game the way it was meant to be played, and having the option to enable ways for them to play the game through should be available.

On the other hand regarding games that don't offer those or with certain devices, I feel that, especially for single player games and even some coop games, if those playing can get a better experience by using a game enhancement code/device such as a Game Genie or Action Replay/Gameshark or built in codes, then by all means I should be able to do that. Does it cheapen the victory of beating an objection? ...maybe? But does it detract from the overall enjoyment I have playing the game? Hell no. Give me those infinite lives or powerups or weapons or superjump cheats and level warps, etc. I'm playing to have fun! It can be boring grinding for HOURS to be able to afford certain items or unlock certain abilities in some games. I can still play "legitimately" but sometimes I need that advantage to reach a point I'm seriously struggling with, or I'm bored with playing a specific way and just want to screw around and see how far I can go before the game breaks.

Now I can certainly make exceptions for certain situations, such as multiplayer games and competitions where using cheats and such can give a player an unfair advantage, or in single player speed run races where there are clear rules defined (such as no major/any glitches) and similar, but for single player things with no competition involved? I should be allowed to play how I like.
