Every single category MMU was up for, it almost won. Almost, almost, almost won. I even had it penciled in as winning the majority of them before changing my mind at the very last second. The fact that it went 0 for 4 really does not accurately tell the tale of how great it was and how much it deserved to win something. I mean yeah it's the difference between losing by 2 points versus losing by 52, but I feel like that is a very important difference that I would really like to emphasize here.
I recall we actually had a talk when I first beat Ori and was adding it to my nominees at the time, like "Yeah this game didn't hit you as hard as it did me so it's probably not going to win anything on your end" "Yeah I know, I mean it's really good and it should but the competition is just too fierce" etc. And then it went on to not only win two awards, but one of them being the award. That... actually, that also goes to show just how close these were and how ever-changing my mind was right until the last second; I was dead sure for months that it was a foregone conclusion that PMD would take Celine's Choice, until you reminded me how much I loved MMU and never saw it as an obligation (unlike PMD,) which got me to rethink the whole thing to almost give it to MMU instead before Ori stole it. (And I really wasn't kidding about almost giving it to Samus Returns for a moment there, too.)
