Oh, I thought there was a twist in there somewhere, but from looking over the plot synopsis again and trying to use my brain, I guess not?

Anyway Cyrus thinks Team Galactic are a bunch of complete morons. He's kind of a proto-Ghetsis, but he doesn't really want to rule the world, just cleanse it of humanity. He is the most Final Fantasy of Pokemon villains.

Despite his claims, Galactic are constantly one step ahead of the player throughout the game? Like, they blow up the marsh, they kidnap legendaries, they have shockingly good bosses (Mars x Jupiter double battle nightmares) and then there's "I'll Lock This From The Inside" dude... When you go rescue the Lake Trio, Cyrus just fucking mocks you because he doesn't need them any more.

They come possibly the closest to actual total victory out of all the teams I can think of? Which is impressive when their goal is to destroy the entire universe.



Also kinda puts Team Plasma in perspective. At least those idiots thought they were animal rights activists. Team Galactic straight up want to blow up the universe.
