Yeah, that's the thing. Tanky pokemon generally fall flat in single-player since the optimal "strategy" is "lean on the murder button", but even with a level advantage, Grass just doesn't do enough on its own and she doesn't have the muscle that... pretty much any other Grass starter does in order to make the donuts.
She'll soak damage real good though. Unless it's fire. Or ice. or bugs, or birds, or errant lawnmowers
