A lot of parts are the same old town it always was, but you have those subtle signs that the dynamic of how it interacts with you is different--that one particular shop you used to like closed down,
Ironically, this was the point where Omega Ruby clicked for me. A lot of fans wailed about the Game Center in Mauville being shut down (in reality due to different rules about video gambling now vs then) but for me it was like "...yeah, I need to let go of the nostalgia and treat this as its own beast".
