Aug. 18th, 2011 01:52 amBeen a while since I updated my game journal, and even longer since I updated my beaten games list.
I assure you, I'm still gaming when I can. It's just that A) I'm frequently busy with other things, and B) I have this nasty habit of throwing myself into thousand-hour epics even though I'm frequently busy with other things. (Hi, my name is Kjorteo and I'm taking a break from Etrian Odyssey 3 to play Tactics Ogre.)
Well, I did actually accomplish something, gaming-wise, tonight. So there.
I beat SpaceChem. Almost completely mastered, actually; I completed all twelve of the original challenges/achievements ("Beat the game!" plus eleven "beat this stage in under X cycles/with under X reactors/just beat this optional hard bonus stage" challenges.) Were it not for the fact that they've made up new achievements since I started, including ones for beating X player-made online levels and one in the new DLC expansion campaign which I'm not going to go out and buy, I'd have 100% completion.
Anyway, the last level is ridiculous. It is fortunate that I know how to kludge together code that's visibly sparking and smoking and held together with duct tape and prayer but it works God damn it after having worked with ZZT.
Edit: The last level is definitely the tallest order for an overall problem in the game, but at least it gives you room for up to six reactors and enough space that it's only a medium headache to place them and the piping for them. Since I could then do a fairly good job evenly breaking down and distributing the work, I can now say that even the last level failed to dethrone http://imageshack.us/f/863/spacechem1.png/ as the most incredible single reactor program I have ever made.
Edit 2: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5935844/ may have been the face I made when my mad creation came to life and actually worked.
