May. 14th, 2009 05:22 pmWoo, I just successfully made a pact with and defeated the red GameGuadia. Not just defeated normally, made a pact with and defeated. Hello best Guadia in the game by far. I only using one of my two Guadianip on it, as well, meaning that I guess the other one I was holding on to for most of the game wound up being Too Awesome To Use. Oh, well.
The rewards are totally not worth it (even the services of the red GameGuadia himself aren't that much better, considering I already had a green GameGuadia) but we're talking about Guadia Quest's answer to FF7's Emerald WEAPON: the bonus boss, the single strongest enemy in the game, significantly moreso than the actual endboss. By its very definition, anything it could possibly give you besides bragging rights falls firmly in the realm of "if you're strong enough to beat him, you're strong enough to not need it. Besides, what are you going to use it on? You already beat the most powerful enemy in the game." But man, I'll take those bragging rights, thank you very much.
I already beat Guadia Quest (the endboss' post-defeat This Cannot Be speech is actually genuinely disturbing) and was just trying to get the red GameGuadia for the hell of it, so now it's time to focus on Haggle Man 3, I guess. My God, Haggle Man 3 is huge. And those fucking birds. The Hagglegear system is awesome, though. I love it overall--it and Guadia Quest were clearly the most labor-intensive entries in the overall collection--though I do wish there were a better save system than just the autosaving between levels, because the levels are so freaking enormous. Oh, well. I'll just have to stick to playing it when I actually have sufficiently large chunks of time to actually beat a level.
